The 'Stormerick Golden Retrievers' are in partnership within our family. This consists of: John & Janet Merrick plus son Andrew, who live in Somerset, and daughter Julie who lives in Devon.

We are KENNEL CLUB ACCREDITED BREEDERS.

 

This means that we adhere to the KC rules and regulations regarding the welfare standards of our dogs and ensure that we have our dogs & bitches health screened... including hip scoring and eye testing.

We are also members of different Golden Retriever Breed Clubs and as such adhere to their 'Codes of Ethics' regarding the health and welfare of our dogs and bitches.

 

Janet is a trainer for the Taunton Obedience Club, following the 'KC Good Citizens' course. She is also a qualified Kennel Club assessor for the scheme.

She is also an 'A3' list judge. She has judged all over the UK, including a breed club show and also in Spain.

 

I (Julie) am currently the Assistant Secretary for Wiveliscombe and District Canine Society  and  the Supermatch Secretary.  I am also a qualified Kennel Club assessor for Good Citizens Scheme and have run Good Citizens training classes for many years achieving Bronze, Silver and Gold level with my own dogs, plus training others to achieve the same.

I am also a 'B' list breed judge, have judged Goldens all over the UK, including Scotland and Wales, only missing Ireland! I have also judged many other gundog breeds and Junior Handling. I have handled clumber spaniels, cocker spaniels and papillons  to success. One day I may fulfill my ambition to own and show an English Springer Spaniel but will never be without my glorious goldens! 

 

There are currently 9 girls & 1 boy in Somerset and 5 boys in Devon making a mad total of 15 dogs! These range in age from Rosie who is 13 years young to 9 month old Lucy. Most weekends and during the holidays, they all get together to play and enjoy each other's company.
